2009 Boxcar Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, CA, $25 (S) – Rating 89

A bright fruity Pinot that is an easy sipper. A good “go-to” Pinot, Boxcar is not as big as it’s Red Car brother but has plenty of Pinot flavor for any Pinotphile. Because of the well balanced fruit, acid and tannins, this is an excellent food pairing wine. Check out Red Car Wines

2009 Seven Hills Viognier, Talcott Vineyard, Columbia Valley, WA, $20 – Rating 85

A pleasant Viognier but a bit delicate and thin on flavor for my palate. A nice patio sipper on a hot afternoon.

2008 Newton Red Label Chardonnay, Sonoma & Napa County, CA, $20 – Rating 89

A very enjoyable “Go To” Chardonnay. Crisp and not overblown. Great patio sipper but still enough acidity and depth to pair well with seafood or a lightly seasoned pork/chicken.

2008 Robert Mondavi Winery Chardonnay, Napa Valley, CA, $20 (S) – Rating 87

A very pleasant crisp Chardonnay. Delicate notes of white peach, pear, apple and melon. Clean finish with a touch of minerality.

2008 Wine Guerrilla Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley, CA, $20 (S) – Rating 88

This is a excellent go-to Zinfandel at a good price. Fruit from two Dry Creek Valley vineyards are blended into a soft jammy utterly enjoyable zinfandel. 14% Petite Sirah in the blend adds a bit of spice and darker fruit flavors. Not as complex as some from Wine Guerrlla, just sit back and enjoy the jam.
