2011 Titus Vineyards Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley, CA, $36 – Rating 92

From brothers Eric and Phillip Titus, Titus Cabernet Franc a perennial B&B favorite for this under-appreciated variety . 2011 was a cooler growing season creating a wine that is a bit leaner than in some years but still delicious. A blend of 75% Cabernet Franc 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot with an expressive nose of dark red fruit, spice and leather. A full mouth-feel with juicy acidity offering flavors of ripe red cherry, blueberry, dark fruit and spice with notes of ripe raspberry. Subtle touches of vanilla and espresso on the finish. 2012 Conundrum Wines California White Wine, Napa Valley, CA, $22 (S) – Rating 88

This is a food pairing wine, the off-dry sweetness pairs quite nicely with lighter fare and particularly spicy foods such as Thai dishes. Tropical aromas of Meyer lemon and white peach with a touch of flintiness. The soft and plush mouth-feel with a definite kiss of sweetness is highlighted with flavors of white peach, tropicals and honeysuckle with hints of ripe pineapple. Your holiday guests will not be disappointed. Buy This Wine

2011 Conundrum Wines California Red Wine, Napa Valley, CA, $22 (S) – Rating 89

A very easy-drinking wine consisting of a “non-traditional” bled of grape varieties.  A vibrant nose of dark fruit, dark chocolate covered cherries with hints of smoke. The flavors are a rich combination of dark cherry, plum and chocolate with notes of ripe raspberry on the finish. Soft tannins, a bit a acidity and the slightest touch of sweetness add to the complexity. Sure to be a holiday crowd-pleaser on its own and paired with tomato dishes or turkey dinner left-overs.
