2011 Peterson Bradford Mountain Vineyard Rose, Dry Creek Valley, CA, $21 (S) – Rating 90

A unique rosé blend of 40% Mourvèdre, 30% Zinfandel, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petite Sirah and 5% Petite Verdot with a nose of ripe strawberries and raspberries. Refreshingly rich  flavors of spicy cherry, ripe raspberry, strawberry, red berries, ripe watermelon, rhubarb with excellent food pairing acidity. As it opens, strawberry flavors became more apparent.

2010 Hook & Ladder Pinot Noir, Estate Bottled, Russian River Valley, CA, $25 (S) – Rating 90

A great Pinot for the price. A soft nose reminiscent of blueberry and cherry pie. Yummy favors abound of blueberry, dark cherry, cinnamon, cocoa and other baking spices. Well balanced acidity and soft tannins make this wine easy to enjoy.

2010 V. Sattui Winery Sattui Family Pinot Noir, St. Helena, CA, $30 (S) – Rating 90

A very enjoyable and easy drinking Pinot Noir offering aromas of cherry, plum and leather. A blend of fruit from Anderson Valley and Santa Lucia Hills with jammy flavors of cherry, espresso, ripe plum, dark fruit and spice with subtle notes of chocolate are beautifully integrated with silky tannins and zippy acidity. Paired deliciously with grilled pork chops and grilled veggies.

2008 Sawyer Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley, CA, $49 (S) – Rating 91

A rich deep nose of spicy cherry and saddle leather. This well integrated Cabernet offers up a big smooth mouth-feel full of dark cherry, blackberry, plum, spice and cocoa with hints of smoke and saddle leather. Soft tannins enhance the long finish. Buy This Wine

2010 Lloyd by Robert Lloyd Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills, CA, $49(S) – Rating 90

A rich ripe Pinot with a deep nose of blueberry, strawberry and raspberry. Unfiltered and unfined, the wine offers complex flavors of cherry, blueberry, raspberry, plum, baking spice and leather with notes of cola as it opens. Quite jammy on the front with mouth-watering acidity on the back palate. Buy This Wine
