We sent our wine pooch, Bonny the Cavalier, out in search of a new “Go-To” Chardonnay and she came back with a beauty. The Loyal Companion Chardonnay from Cru Vin Dogs in Sonoma County. At $11, this playful pup will keep you smiling and fetching more. Well integrated flavors of pear, honeycomb, white peach, spice and citrus with a creamy vanilla finish. Serve at your next outdoor event or with lighter summer fare. Proceeds go to benefit local animal shelters and other dog-related charities. Bonny approves!

2010 Round Hill Chardonnay, California, $8 (S) – Rating 88

An outstanding value Chardonnay. Nice rich and round flavors apricot, baked apple, pear and Meyer lemon with a hint of creamy vanilla spice. Round Hill Chardonnay has enough texture and acidity to pair well with fish, chicken and shell fish. Sure to be a patio party favorite.

Year after year McPherson Cellars creates one of the best Texas Viogniers, if not one of the best in the U.S. A  fruit forward dry wine with well integrated flavors of peach, honeydew, tropical fruits with a hint of apple and enough acidity to for perfect food pairing. We love this wine with shellfish, grilled white fish and especially Thai food.
