Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Napa Valley, CA, $24 (S) – Rating 89

Crisp with mouthwatering acidity just like Sauvignon Blanc should be. On the nose, grilled lemon and other enticing tropicals. Zesty but still a soft mouth-feel offering well integrated flavors of Meyer lemon, pineapple and pear with green apple on the finish. Buy This Wine

2012 Cakebread Cellars Vin de Porche Rosé, Anderson Valley, CA, $25 (S) – Rating 91

This “wine for the porch” may be my favorite so far of the many 2012 dry Rosés reviewed. Made from 95% Pinot Noir, 5% Syrah it is perfect for sipping on a warm summer evening or pairing with summer vegetables and lighter meats or fish. The nose is a basket of red berries, ripe strawberry and watermelon. Tangy flavors of strawberry, cherry, watermelon, a touch of cranberry and a bit of flintiness combine with balanced acidity for a great wine. Buy This Wine

2011 Cakebread Cellars Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley, CA, $50 (S) – Rating 91

An interestingly complex Pinot Noir with an earthy nose of cherry, raspberry, plum and spice with notes of blueberry. French oak aging creates a medium-bodied Pinot with supple tannins with flavors of dark cherry, rhubarb, plum, minerality and brown spice. Juicy acidity offers many food pairing possibilities. Cherry and leather in the long finish. Buy This Wine
