2007 Shenandoah, CA (s) $30 — Rating 93

An excellent example of Petite Sirah. Inky black with blackberry, dark spices, dark fruit and the black pepper I enjoy so much in Petite Sirah. We paired the C. G. Di Arie Petite Sirah with a spicy green chili, the wine held up beautifully.

2007 Carneros, CA (S) $40 — Rating 90

Ceja Vineyards produces a beautiful bright, crisp, fruity, medium bodied Pinot Noir.  Perfect for a summer evening. The floral and red plum nose is a prelude to a very well balanced wine with soft tannins and textured flavors of dried berry, spice and herbs.

2008 Russian River, CA  (s) $35 – $75 — Rating 93

The 2008 offering is even better than the wonderful 2007 . This Pinot Noir is approachable from the time the cork pops and is an excellent food pairing wine. Don Blackburn said about Emeritus, “It won’t be a wine that will try to knock your socks off, but a wine instead, that will attempt to seduce you, and make you glad that it did.”   Let this beauty seduce you. Emeritus Pinot is normally only found in restaurants ($70-$75) but can be found at Internet retailers for $35-$40.

2008 Sonoma Coast, CA $35 — Rating 90

The other night I was in the mood for a great Pinot and friend suggested Benovia Sonoma Coast. This is a very well made Pinot Noir that has a juicy mouthfeel and is very well balanced. Just a damn nice Pinot.

 2008 “Frizzante” $18 (S) — Rating 90

Slightly sweet with a light effervescence. A Gold Medal winner in San Francisco Wine Competition, 2010, this wine pairs nicely with a salad, light appetizers and Asian food. Also enjoy it after dinner when something “just a little sweet” is what you crave.
