Rich and complex with dark flavors like black berries and currants with a hint of cedar. The tannins were big but soft enough. After two passes through the Vinturi and an hour in the decanter, this bad boy opened up beautifully. Give it a little more time.
The flavors opened nicely into a mouth filling blend of dark berries, currants and a hint of tobacco. The tannins had properly softened but still had enough structure to age another few years. WE- 90.
This is one of our favorites. While some call this style “overblown” with oak and malolactic fermentation, it sat like an buttery kiss on my palate.
Like many Howell Mountain Cabs, this wine is big, bold and beautiful. It is very deep and rich with dark red aromas and flavors. The wine is just now hitting its stride and so the tannin structure is still a bit strong. Give it at least an hour in the decanter.
Expect to pick flavors of raspberry, blackberry cassis, dark chocolate and vanilla among others. The tannins blend well with the fruit to create a very long finish. Drink this wine slowly so you can really appreciate its layered complexity.
