2009 Freeman Vineyard & Winery RRV Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, CA, $41 (S) – Rating 92

A beautiful big-boy Pinot from Freeman Vineyards.  Rich character, good structure with a full and round mouth-feel. Flavors abound with  cherry, black raspberry, dark berries, rhubarb and a hint of cola. Be patient, this baby need time to open to its full potential. Decant for at least 30 minutes

2009 Dendor Patton Wisdom Old Vine Zinfandel, Mendocino County, CA, $30 (S) – Rating 92

A wonderful Zin from a small producer, Dendor Patton Wisdom Old Vine Zinfandel is medium-bodied with flavors of Black cherry, plum, coffee, chocolate, a little blueberry.  A pop of 5% Petite Sirah and 5% Barbara add complexity along with well integrated oak and soft tannins. A touch of acidity makes it surprisingly food friendly.

2010 Quady Electra Moscato, California Orange Muscat Wine, $12 (S) – Rating 90

Think sweet…not too sweet…Think low alcohol (4%). A wonderful Muscat from Quady offering up flavors of melon, peach and soft pear. A very refreshing wine with a hint of zippy acid. Perfect for a warm evening after dinner or even with a salad or lighter spicy foods. The label says “acceptable to serve on the rocks”…Don’t you dare…it’s too good to water down.

2002 Pope Valley Winery Zinfandel Port, North Coast, Pope Valley, CA, $20 (S) – Rating 90

A delicious dessert offering with flavors of jammy blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, raisin and spice. Let it breathe for 15-30 minutes for maximum flavor. Went perfectly with our chocolate fudge cake… or just a few bites of dark chocolate.
