2010 Tudal Family Winery Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, CA, $17 (S) – Rating 92

One of the best Sauvignon Blancs we’ve had all season. All Napa Valley fruit, this Tudal Family Winery Sauvignon Blanc is blended with 40% Sauvignon Musqué clone that gives it more depth and a round mouth-feel without adding oak. Crisp yet round flavors of  white peach, stone fruit, Meyer Lemon and apple with a touch of spice blend harmoniously to create a delicious wine.

2010 McPherson Cellars Viognier, Texas, $14 – Rating 90

Year after year McPherson Cellars creates one of the best Texas Viogniers, if not one of the best in the U.S. A  fruit forward dry wine with well integrated flavors of peach, honeydew, tropical fruits with a hint of apple and enough acidity to for perfect food pairing. We love this wine with shellfish, grilled white fish and especially Thai food.

2009 Wine Guerrilla Zinfandel, Clopton Vineyard, Russian River Valley, CA, $27 (S) – Rating 91

A voluptuous and buxom Zinfandel, rich with jammy flavors of blue berries and black/red fruit. Give this Wine Guerrilla beauty a little decanter time to show her spicy depth and complexity. Supple tannins add character to subtly integrated flavors of leather, smoke and old vine nuance. Texas smoked brisket (sans sauce) and grilled veggies made for an outstanding pairing.
