2010 Van Duzer Estate Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, Oregon, $16 (S) – Rating 88

The 2010 Van Duzer Pinot Gris is a zippy dry wine with nice round flavors of pear, honeysuckle, apple and white fruit. A touch of ripe pineapple citrus rounds out the flavors of this beauty. As super patio sipper that will sure to be a crowd pleaser. Pair with grilled white fish, shell fish or a summer salad topped with poppy seed dressing.

2010 Round Hill Oak Free Chardonnay, CA, $12 (S) – Rating 85

Light both in color, nose, this “naked Chardonnay” offers mild flavors green apple, apricot with a touch of grilled pineapple and a hint of lemon. The finish has some pretty zippy acidity that should allow it to pair well with lighter summer meals.

2009 Chamisal Vineyards Stainless Chardonnay, Unoaked, Central Coast CA  $13 – Rating 88

Note: We previously gave this wine a poor rating… but it appears we had a bad bottle… Glad we bought 2.

A full-flavored unoaked/non-malolactic Chardonnay. Beautiful flavors of tropical fruits, ripe pineapple, melon, citrus with a rich mouth-feel with hints of honeycomb on the finish. The clean flavors will appeal to fans of “naked Chardonnays” while the full fruit expression is big enough to satisfy an oak leaning palate.

2010 Cass Winery Viognier, Estate Grown, Paso Robles, CA, $26 – Rating 91

On a recent wine excursion to Paso Robles we found Cass Winery and we were glad we did. Cass has created a lovely expression of Viognier from estate fruit. Refreshing, with a creamy round mouth-feel and integrated flavors of white peach, apple, tropicals and a hint of honeycomb. The finish includes a touch of minerality and acidity that  entices the palate.
