2008 Judd’s Hill Burke’s Blazing Barbeque Old Vine Zinfandel, Mok-elumne River, Lodi, CA, $30 – Rating 90
I am usually not a big fan of Lodi Zins for their overpowering cherry cola flavors. This Judd’s Hill Zin is a wonderful exception to the rule. While the name may sound silly, this is a serious Zinfandel from 75 year old vines. Very well balanced with good Zin flavors but not too jammy or overpowering. A great food pairing Zin for our Bar-B-Que pizza. Judd’s Hill Winery
